Why become a volunteer?

This is a chance to support and be involved in an exciting community project, meet new people and help others experience how Colin McCahon and his family lived and worked during their years in Titirangi.  Even if you feel you can only help infrequently, or for particular tasks, we would still like to hear from you.

"I have been a docent since the inception of the project – over 5 years as I have spare time and it’s a very worthwhile project.  I have enjoyed learning about McCahon’s life and motivation and his impact on NZ art..."

As a volunteer you will meet the current artists in the residency,  you will be eligible for discounts on art purchases,  get invitations to artist talks,  curator guided gallery visits and more.

"I have only been a docent for about a year, since I came to live in NZ 18 months ago.

I had not heard of Colin McCahon, so volunteering  was a way to learn more about the area and meet interesting people. It has not disappointed! A bonus is meeting the artists who are lucky enough to achieve a 3 month residency in the studio''
