School Holiday Workshop - The Puriri & The Kereru
In this workshop you will explore the garden of McCahon House and learn about the endemic evergreen Puriri and the lovely Kereru (wood pigeon). Lead by artist Georgina Caulton you will create and paint a cool functional Kereru/Puriri container.
In the spirit of Colin McCahon's interest in conservation and loving our environment, you will learn about the role Kereru and Moa played in dispersing Puriri seeds across the Waitakere Ranges and have an opportunity to support conservation by gaining skills in up cycling plastic bottles to make a planter to take home a Puriri seedling.
All materials are provided. The workshops are suitable for 8-12 years old. Younger children are welcome with an accompanying adult.
