Sarah Smuts-Kennedy's Light Language, Te Uru 2 Sept - 29 Oct

McCahon House artist in residence September – December 2016, Sarah Smuts-Kennedy’s post residency exhibition Light Languageopens at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery this Saturday 2nd September at 4pm and runs until 29 October 2017.

In addition to Sarah’s exhibition at Te Uru, a selection of new video works (also made during her residency) will be on display in McCahon House. There will be an opening at McCahon House, 3pm Sunday 24th September.

Sarah will speak in conversation with Natasha Conland and Laurence Simmons about Light Language at Te Uru, 1pm Sunday 24th September.

 

 

Oliver Perkins Japanese Laurel currently on till 8 Oct

Painter Oliver Perkins has recently completed his McCahon House Artist in Residence May – August 2017. Oliver Perkins’ post residency exhibition Japanese Laurel is currently running at Te Uru until 8th October 2017. To find out more, or enquire about Oliver’s work, contact Hopkinson Mossman

 

We welcome international artist Taro Shinoda




In mid-September we welcome our first International Artist in Residence Taro Shinoda. There will be a welcome for Taro at the Residency 4pm Sunday 24th September, you are warmly welcome to join us. Taro will also give an artist talk and participate in an Open Studio. Dates to be advised.

Discover how an artist might use forms of performance, sound and music, or the tools of rhetoric, to activate the idea of an audience within their work. Shout Whisper Wail! features the work of Juliet Carpenter, Biljana Popovic, Janet Lilo, Jacqueline Fraser, Stuart Ringholt, Luke Willis Thompson, Julian Dashper, et al. in collaboration with composer Samuel Holloway, Alicia Frankovich, and Marco Fusinato.
