Guided Tour of the McCahon House - Years 7 - 13

Come down amidst the bush and birds in Titirangi and experience how our greatest painter Colin McCahon and his family lived during the 1950s.

The House is an important cultural and social historical site. Visiting the House is a not to be missed opportunity to understand not only what inspired a significant body of his work, but also how the family lived. The House is a highly characteristic example of the kind of dwelling—the weekend bach—that was very common half a century ago in places like Titirangi but which seldom survives in original condition today.
Maximum 15 students.

Visit options:

  • Guided Visit to House (45 minutes) Generally $5 per student
  • Visit to Lopdell Gallery may also be arranged
  • Bookings essential
